Once upon a time I discovered, just by chance (like all wonderful discoveries) that long ago on the waterfront in Buffalo, New York there was a man who had a little marionette theater. His puppets were made of wood, hand carved, and costumed by hand too, and every evening he used them to tell stories to his Italian immigrant neighbors - ancient tales about Charlemagne and his knights.

Later, during the Great Depression, marionettes were used to teach and entertain, and marionette performances helped people through those dark days.

Buffalo, with her rich immigrant history, is layered with the cultural traditions of many countries. My curiosity about 'the marionette man' was the beginning of a journey of exploration, and my blog is the story of where that journey took me. I hope you enjoy this tale of discovery!
